Sacred Heart is animated and administered through various committees that report to an elected Parish Pastoral Council. Each committee includes some members of the Council, and covers one aspect of the total life of the parish. The Executive Committee includes the pastor and the officers of the Parish Pastoral Council. This committee prepares agenda for the Council, moderates its proceedings, and oversees its elections.
The Parish Life Committee offers their time and talent in the ministry of hospitality, arranging and taking care of parish receptions and celebrations. Among these are various annual events such as the Fr. Finian Sullivan Dinner Dance and the New Parishioner Welcome. The work of this committee ensures a vibrant social life for the parish, expressed through enjoyable gatherings.
The Social Life Committee is involved in our effort to do the good works of charity and social justice. Among their ministries are our participation in the Sharing Community, a Respect Life group, and the parish thrift shop.
The Education Committee has a twofold role in the parish. First, the committee includes the principals of the parish grade and high schools [ and provides a formal liaison between the parish schools and Parish Pastoral Council. Second, the Education Committee works to animate and surface opportunities for adult religious education.
The Spiritual Life Committee coordinates the liturgical ministries of the parish, training and working with parishioners who have been called to the ministries of usher, altar server, lector, and Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. This committee also works on the preparation of seasonal liturgies, celebrations, and opportunities for spiritual enrichment.
